My Pinterest Obsession

I think a lot of people nowadays have found a love with Pinterest. I'll admit, when I'm sitting in class Tuesday night and I start to get bored after the first hour or so.... Pinterest somehow opens on my computer an I spend the next 5 hours pinning things. How this is entertaining and popular, I do not know, but I love it!! Lately I have decided to try some of the recipes of the delicious food I'm always pinning. I have been trying to come up with a good, easy breakfast and I found it! I made these the other week and they lasted for a couple weeks! I ate them for breakfast and a snack durning the day.

They are quite tasty, and good for you! The first batch I made some with Craisins on top and also put some frozen berries in others. I discovered that when I have time in the mornings, if I put it in a bowl with some milk and brown sugar and heat it up in the microwave, it is amazing. I made more tonight and tried making some with pumpkin, some with raisins on top, some with brown sugar cooked on top, and the rest with berries mixed in. I haven't tried any of them yet, but I'm super excited for the pumpkin ones!

The other Pinterest treat I made recently is this. You don't necessarily need a recipe for these but it is such a great idea! Kyle absolutely loves them. I love them as well, but I'm not so good at biting frozen things and these are easier to eat if you bite them since I made my dots kind of big.

If you're looking for tasty, easy treats I would suggest either of these! If I say it's easy, then really, it's easy. I don't cook... Just the thought of making any type of food stresses me out. But, learning simple things like these has helped a lot!

Wedding Planning!

Honestly, I haven't done much wedding planning yet.. I am laid back and kind of just know things will fall in to place so I haven't stressed much yet... I have purchased a wedding dress though! Wedding dress shopping was fun! All of my sisters, my mom, and my best friend came. We went to Alyssa's Bridal first because we figured they'd have the biggest selection of modest, affordable dresses and we were right. At the beginning I had a little break down because all of their dresses are made for girls that are 5'9" and I'm 5'2" and very short torsoed.. (I don't think that's a word) So the dresses I was trying on in my size wouldn't even zip up all the way. My ribs were where my waist should be so the bottom zipped fine, the top closed fine but the middle was no where close to zipping up. I had to try on dresses THREE sizes bigger then my normal size. So, naturally I had a break down because nothing was fitting. But, once I got over it, trying on all of the pretty dresses was lots of fun!! After I picked out my favorite two we ran over to the mall to buy a new bra and look at the bridal store in there. All of the dresses there were more expensive and I didn't love any of them. So, we didn't even try any on. We bought a bra and ran back to Alyssa's. I put my final two choices on once more and this is what we decided on:

It's not a super good picture and you can't see the whole thing.. but it gives you a good idea!

I'm glad to have that picked out! I went in for my first fitting the other day (because I need a bunch of alterations) and they said it will take at least two fittings. So, it's good I got one picked out so fast! We've also picked out our colors which will be dark purple and light gray with peacock feathers for an accent... That might not make sense but trust me, it will be awesome. I also purchased my wedding shoes! Since Kyle is kind of short.. I just bought flats so I wouldn't risk being taller then him

So cute! I ordered them online and they should be here next week! We also are getting our engagements done next weekend, so we need to figure out what we are even going to wear.. There is a lot that goes in to planning a wedding.. But, it's fun!

Engaged!

On February 1st I got engaged! It was a big surprise! This is how it happened. I came home form my bagpipe lessons and Kyle wasn't at my house like he normally is. I walked in and all the lights were off. Our song was playing ("Green Eyes" by Coldplay), there were purple tulips on the coffee table, and he had put a big "I Love You" on the TV.

I started wandering around my house looking for Kyle but I couldn't find him. Finally I looked at the card in the flowers and it said to go to a website. Kyle had built a website that was a virtual scavenger hunt. He hid clues around the house that told me different links on the website to go to. With each clue he talked about a memory he had with me. It was very cute. The last clue told me to open my front door. He was there all dressed up with his guitar. He sang me a song that he wrote then got down and asked me to marry him. I was crying and could hardly say yes. So I just nodded and hugged him.

We will be getting married May 31, 2012! More info to come!

Halloween Craftiness!

I am not a crafty person. Whenever my family all gets together and does something crafty, mine usually is the one that looks like a 3 year old made it... BUT I LOVE Halloween! And I LOVE Halloween decorations! So, I've decided to get a little crafty this year! Here are my first Halloween crafts of the year that  I made with the help of my mom!

Spider Webs

These were way easy to make! I bought a bunch of cross stitching hoops from Hobby Lobby and spray painted them black. Then we took the material (from Joann's) and put it in the hoop. Glued a spider on and tied on some ribbon! I kept two, gave two to my mom, three to my sisters, and one to my aunt. Here are the ones hanging in my  house next to the house warming gift Amber made me!

The second craft I made is a Halloween Wreath! This was a little harder. I took three wire hangers and made them into a hoop (with the help of my dad) and then ripped paper and put it in, spray pained it, and put on a spider and a bow! It was a little more time consuming then the spider webs but turned out way cute!

The spider is hard to see in the picture because he's black and sparkly but he stands out more in real life! I have it hanging on the inside of my door because I'm afraid the rain will ruin it. Yay for Halloween!!

Easter S'Mores!

My mom is kind of crazy... She has the nickname of El Loco. Sometimes she'll get an idea in her head and go crazy with it. This year, her idea was Easter. The Saturday before Easter she had an all day event planned out! It was filled with games, food, coloring eggs, making things, and fun. One thing that was made at this Easter Event were these Easter S'mores jars. They had gram crackers, peeps, cadberry eggs (could also use M&M's) and brown sugar in them. They were tied with a bow and instructions on what to do with this cute little jar. Me and Cortney made them the other day and they were DELICIOUS. It was easy. All you had to do was dump out the jar into a bowl, cut up the bunnies, add a stick of butter and some vanilla, press into a pan, cook for a bit, and walla! Easter S'mores.

Chopping up the bunnies. Good think Cort doesn't read my blog. She hates this picture. I think she looks super cute.

Sad News

Really, this isn't sad news. Well, for me it's sad. We moved our corporate office so I go a different way to work so I don't get to drive under that message bridge everyday anymore!! It was so entertaining to me. Here is the last message I received:

"Hood 23" and "J heart's S"

Well, lets start with Hood 23... I'm not sure what that is. I'm thinking some BYU kids live in #23 and they call themselves "Hood 23" because BYU Zoobies are cool like that.  Or maybe it was some gang call for all the gang members to meet at Hood 23?

J <3 S... I like this one. Mainly because it's a different color then the others have been! They got creative and found some green and white cups! Go J and S!! And really, I'm glad you love each other.

Once I'm done working at the high school for the summer, I'll be driving differently to work, so I may be hitting up this bridge again in a month or so. Don't even fret!
